# Employer of Record in Italy - Hire without a local entity

_Hire in Italy without a local entity. Employer social contributions run about 28 to 31% of pay, and Fronted employs your people and runs payroll._

## Frequently asked questions about employing in Italy

### How long does it take to hire in Italy through Fronted?

\[onboarding time\] for EU/EEA citizens. We register the employment, get the employee's codice fiscale (often issued the same day) and file the UNILAV the day before the start date. Payroll cut-offs apply, for example the 10th of the month. Non-EU hires need a work permit (nulla osta) under the annual Decreto Flussi quotas, or an EU Blue Card for highly qualified roles, which takes longer.

### What are the employer costs on top of salary in Italy?

Expect roughly 37 to 40% on top of gross. Employer INPS contributions are about 30% for commerce roles, the TFR accrual is 6.91% and INAIL is around 0.4% for office work. Calculate on the full annual figure, including the 13th and often the 14th salary. Our fee is \[Fronted fee\] per employee per month. Exact rates depend on sector and company size.

### How does the Italian holiday system work?

The legal minimum is four weeks a year. Under the commerce agreement it is 26 working days plus 88 to 104 hours of ROL and ex-festività leave, depending on company size. Italy has 13 national public holidays in 2026, plus a local patron saint day. Two weeks must be taken in the year, the rest within 18 months. We track the balances.

### How does termination work in Italy?

Dismissal must be in writing with grounds: just cause, or a justified subjective or objective reason. Notice follows the collective agreement by level and tenure, 20 to 120 days in commerce, or pay in lieu. TFR and accrued leave are paid out. Unlawful dismissal of staff hired after 2015 normally costs 6 to 36 months' pay. We manage the process and the paperwork.

### What happens when we outgrow EOR and want to set up our own local entity in Italy?

When you're ready, we scope the setup of your Italian S.r.l. with you first. An S.r.l. takes about 2 to 4 weeks and €10,000 in share capital, then registrations with Agenzia delle Entrate, INPS and INAIL. Moving your team means new employment contracts with your entity. We handle the contracts and paperwork and make the move as simple as possible.
